Growing Up is a project that’s very close to my heart. The idea came to me after losing my grandmother. I often think back to the quiet walks we used to take around her house, tall pine trees swaying above us, and the fields bursting with heather as summer slowly faded. Recreating some of her favorite things for my first ever portfolio piece became more than just a creative challenge, it turned into a way for me to reconnect with those memories and honor her in my own way. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did creating it.

For this project I wanted to create something as realistic as possible. Therefore, I have based the majority of my scene on scanned assets, with some hand built exceptions. I wanted to create a biome kit based on where I spent most of my childhood. I focused on refining my knowledge when it comes to processing scanned data, creating LODs and utilizing procedural tools such as Speed Tree and Designer in my pipeline. The project was developed over the course of 12 weeks at half-time. If you're curious about the techniques and workflow behind this project, I recommend checking out my breakdown post.
